ECBA covers the foundational knowledge on business analysis according to the BABOK® Guide and showcases that you have the core knowledge and competencies for the in–demand field of business analysis. Highlight you have the knowledge and be certified by the leading authority in business analysis, IIBA.

ECBA or Entry certificate in Business Analysis is a recently launched certification by IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) and will come into effect from 30th September, 2016.

Purpose of this certification to standardize the Business Analyst knowledge at the entry level. This was a much needed certification required to help professionals, who wish to enter the Business Analysis role.

ECBA Eligibility

1. Ensure you register an account with IIBA (already a member login here
2. Complete a minimum of 21 Professional Development (PD) hours within the last four years. Your hours can be logged and tracked here.
3. Agree with the Code of Conduct.

The ECBA® exam is 1.5 hours long and consists of 50 multiple choice questions. The questions are basic multiple choice that test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding defined by the competencies for this level 1 certificate in the IIBA Certification Framework. The guiding book is the BABOK v3.

All alumni will be able to attend any future batch for the respective training program attended with prior intimation of 10 days.

No extra fees will be charged for attending the same program again.

Step 1 – Log your hours into your BA Development Log

Professional development (PD) and work history must be logged in your account on the IIBA portal in order to be included in your application. You can log your hours before you pay the application fee as well as after you have paid the application fee. Login with your IIBA credentials and select Certification > Log My Hours Proceed to enter your professional development and work experience into your BA Development Log. To find out what qualifies as PD hours, review the criteria in the Certification FAQs – note that the criteria is different for ECBA™ compared to CCBA® and CBAP®.

Step 2 – Pay Application Fee

When you are ready, pay your application fee. Please note: the application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Any hours you already documented in your BA Development Log will be included in your application if they meet the eligibility requirements. References required for CCBA® and CBAP® can either be a CBAP® recipient, a career manager, or a client (internal or external). Ideally at least one of your two references will have known you for at least 6 months.

Step 3 – Complete and Submit Application

Complete any missing information from within your application. Once all your requirements (or goals) are met, you will be able to submit your application. In order to complete the submission of your application, you will need to agree to both the Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct. After you submit your application, you will be notified via email if your application is Approved or Approved Pending Audit. The latter means your application is being audited – for more information on this, go to section 4.0 below. Step 4 – Pay Exam Fee

Once your application is approved, you will receive an email confirming this. You have 1 year from the date on your approval email to take your exam. It is your responsibility to ensure you do not let your application lapse. Otherwise, you will have to reapply to take the exam. You may request an application extension if you have an extenuating circumstance.

Step 5 – Schedule and Take Exam

You can schedule your exam at any time. We recommend sooner than later to ensure you get your preferred date and time and, so you have a lot of time to take it again if you are not successful on your first attempt. You can take the exam up to 3 times within your 1-year application period at any time. Once you’ve taken it 3 times, you must wait until your application expires, and reapply and repay to take it again.

ECBA Certification cost comprises of membership fees, application cost and exam fees. Overall, the total ECBA Fees ranges from $225 to $295, depending on your country.

The IIBA membership fee varies from USD 55 to 125 depending on the country of your residence.  The full details of certification cost for ECBA is shown below:
